4am and life is good!

Why am I up at 4am? Oh yah, I had to pee... maybe same as you right now! Ate 2 granola bars and 1/2 glass of diet caffeine-free Pepsi... Any New Year's Resolutions people? C'mon...Don't say you don't make them. Think of something fun! I promise to order NEW products out of the Party Gal catalogs and try them out with Shawn. (or without Shawn!)... Nothing speaks better than personal experience whether something is good, bad, or a waste of money! I promise to find some healthy way to lose just 10 pounds and stop for a minute thinking about losing 100 lbs... (I am 238, so yes it's possible for me to need to lose 100 pounds!)... I promise to not let my kid be a spoiled brat, it's mostly my fault, I'm on autopilot when I tell her for the 11th time to put her coat on (once should be enough right?)... I could go on about church, and writing something journalismistic, and learning piano, yaddah, yaddah.... but my last resolution which I'm already starting to implement is: Do not "over-commit" and then quit! Just don't do it, don't go there... There's nothing like over-committing leading to feeling overwhelmed and just quitting the whole kit & kaboodle. Nope, not any more... I will bite off ONLY what I know I can chew with a little effort & determination! Whoa, that's a lot of spilling my guts at 4am in the morning!!!!

Fratellos Restraurant in Trenton WAS AWESOME!

Hello all! As a romance specialist for Party Gals, I occasionally rent a table at public events. Well I am a bit skeptical about doing Expos and booths at big halls, etc. Will it be a waste of time and money? Should I do another one, even if it is? HOW can I get some bookings from the public? What am I doing wrong, what am I doing right? With 200 women walking through the place, is it UNREALISTIC to think that I might get 10 bookings? And sell ALL of my cash 'n carry?
6 years ago I did "Brides to Be" expo and gave away a basket worth $80. No sales, no bookings. Not even the gal that won the basket. I could have made it a stipulation that she had to book a party to get the basket, but I felt that was tacky.
2 months ago I did a Women's "Expo" for a somewhat private company that I had high hopes for. I threw in a FREE CRUISE raffle, got lots of contacts, but again, no sales... Alas though 1 booking that followed through, yippee!
Last week I was invited to join "Dirty Dancing" themed Women's Night Out at Fratellos restaurant in Trenton... They ONLY advertise by word-of-mouth. Over 200 ladies showed up last year. At first I was not so enthused... but then I said to myself - Give EACH Opportunity it's own FAIR CHANCE to perform for you! Approach EVERY opportunity with a SMILE and hopefullness! My attitude change from grumpy to happy made a BIG difference! I sold almost ALL of my cash 'n carry. I got about 12 gals that wrote "MAYBE" they'd like to have a party! AND I secured one solid booking for December! Yippee!
I see now that my thoughts need to be realistic (some sales and 2 bookings???) and
my attitude must be FRESH and HAPPY regardless of any past events. Flip the switch with your attitude and see how things turn out. If you're going to spend the time and money to do something, give it your 100% undivided attention and all the hopefullness as a child on Christmas morning!

Comfy vs. Dressy

Hello ya'll!
Well as you know I have been a stay-at-home mom for about 6 months now to my
6 yr old daughter Kylie. My issue for today is that I'm becoming a comfy and domestic person. When I worked in the office, I fixed my hair every morning, I put on make-up every day, and had nice dressy but casual clothes that I put on. I switched into my sweat pants & T-shirt when I got home.
I would see a lady in CVS with hair pulled back in a pony, and no make up and PJ bottoms and think man, I hope I never get like that.
My how quick it happens! I think that I've put on make-up maybe 3 times since May (it's November now). When I'm running late getting Kylie to school using our van, I have left on my PJ bottoms (I pray that NO reason comes up that I actually have to go into the school!), I love wearing handkerchief scarfs to push my hair back, no more curling iron nor hair spray for me, and I occassionally wear the same sweat pants 2-3 days in a row...comfy conquers all now...
I AM that lady in CVS now!! And the weird part is, I don't care. I actually go outside with no make-up and I'm getting used to it. (I by no means should go without make up, I'm pretty but not a natural beauty, my nose stays rosey like Santa's Rudolf, and my face is pale from too many years of wearing foundation daily with 20SPF)...nice.... not
At least I'm still taking a shower on a regular basis and using deoderant....
I'm going to find that perfect balance of super-comfy, yet not "just got finished scrubbing the tub," look. I'll let you know when I find it!

Back to School month

I love the smell of fall...actually I cannot smell...so I love the feeling of fall coming. Leaves changing, Halloween here soon...time to go back to school and see friends again... I'm a fall-baby, so I think this is part of the reason :) I also lost 20 lbs during this time 15 years ago...so it's a myth that you cannot lose weight during the holidays, I did it at weight watchers... Now that I've gained back that 20 lbs plus more, I am definitely ready to start a routine again of eating healthy, drinking water, and working out. I plan to drop off my daughter at school at 8:30 and head to the gym M-F. I love it at the gym, it's like when you go the library all you feel like doing is reading -- at the gym all you feel like doing is exercising. Not so at home -- I find all kinds of non-important things to do at home! When you want to lose weight you have to commit to yourself - no excuses, you will eat right and exercise on a regular basis, no excuses...that's how I ultimately lost 50 lbs total 15 years ago and I plan to do it again!!! It's hard, but not impossible.

I wished for ideas and they didn't come

When I worked in an office for 17 yrs (import/export) I wished for ideas to pursue that would use my creativity and my talents. Now that I've been laid off (due to the declining economy and crippled auto industry in Michigan) ideas just come to me everyday. They come in the car and in the shower mostly, I think because that's when I'm least distracted. Like my libra sister Sabrina born on the same day as me (even same year), in her recent Facebook, "I've got so many ideas, just not enough time to implement them at this moment" [I'm paraphrasing]. So maybe it's the lay off, or cuz I'm a Libra (our time for ideas), or I'm 37 and it's time for some changes. But whatever it is, I need a waterproof notebook! Hey, there's an idea .

The Life of a Party Gal

Wow, I brought a helper (Desiree) and my party time was cut in 1/2 ! How cool is that? Instead of being in a stranger's house for 4+ hours, we were in and out in about 2.5 hours. It was nice to leave a party at 10pm instead of still taking orders and needing to pack everything up... I'm glad Desi took me up on my offer to come and help me.
